WELCOME to PSP
The PSP was born out of a burden to help pastors and churches in Portuguese-speaking countries. The focus of the project is to provide theological training, financial support, solid literature and pastoral mentoring, while also hosting annual leadership conferences.
PSP strives to introduce pastors and leaders to sound doctrine, and more specifically, the Doctrines of Grace, which arose out of the Protestant Reformation. Please check out our webpage and let us know if you have any questions. We will continue to make changes and add new information as we go forward.

September 2026: Angola Pastors Conference Report

Dear friends and supporters of PSP,
We returned from Angola last week after spending two weeks in this east African country. We had a very profitable time ministering God's Word in the cities of Luanda and Huambo. My traveling companions, fellow preachers and Bible teachers, Samuel Quimputo and Daniel Deeds, were greatly used by the Lord to boldly proclaim the scriptures to young pastors and leaders hungry for the truth. We taught God's Word in pastoral training settings, local churches and conference meetings. And in between, we had many opportunities for small group and one-on-one mentoring/discipleship conversations! In our four years of ministry in Angola through the PSP (Portuguese Speaking Pastors) Project, I can't recall a more blessed and rich time with the pastors and leaders there. It was our fourth year in the capital, Luanda, and our second year in Huambo. Though PSP continues to teach and minister in Luanda, our focus has shifted primarily to the city of Huambo, as we held the 2nd PSP Encounter for Pastors and Leaders on September 10-12.
The conference theme was "A Healthy Church", and we had more than 180 registrations for the three-day event. While our focus is reaching out to and training men in pastoral ministry, we encouraged the pastors to bring their wives. On Saturday we had a separate session just for the women with over 40 wives in attendance. What a precious time the women had of being challenged and encouraged from the Word of God! Each of the ladies received special booklets and other materials that were purchased and sent over by South Woods Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. A special word of thanks to them! There were also others who helped financially for the conference needs, including airfare, lodging, food and transportation. For the regular PSP supporters, thank you for your faithful gifts that go toward supporting one of the best and most gifted preachers and Bible teachers to Portuguese-speaking pastors and leaders today: Pastor Samuel Quimputo. He continues to be used by God in many ways in Angola, Portugal and online, to faithfully preach and teach the Word of God to hundreds, if not thousands. If you give to the PSP Project, you are investing in his life and ministry and the lives of so many others impacted by him. Thanks for those who give and those who pray for this important work.
The PSP Encounter in Huambo was a very rich time of opening God's Word by Pastor Quimputo and Pastor Deeds of Brazil. The impact of their messages will be felt in the lives of the hearers in the days to come. We are already hearing a lot of positive feedback. We are trying to organize regular meetings and monthly reading circles to continue what the Lord began in the hearts of these men and their wives. Pray that the Lord will give us wisdom and clear direction as we plan these events.
Some of you may have heard that I got very sick with typhoid fever the last couple of days before my return to Brazil. I had to be taken to a clinic in Huambo the morning before our domestic flight to Luanda. There I was diagnosed and medicated through an IV for about two hours and then went directly from the emergency room to the airport. In all honesty, I should not have been on that flight...But God! The next day, taking antibiotics, I was able to get on my eight-hour flight to Brazil. A week later I am home writing about it. There are several more things I could write of how the Lord worked in different ways during the trip and during this experience, but I don't have time or space to include everything. The Lord did some amazing things, and many people were impacted for His glory. People were praying and the Angolan brothers and sisters in Christ were serving along side of us. Praise the Lord for His hand upon us and for using us for His purpose! May the Lord continue to bless His church in Angola and use the efforts of PSP to be a blessing to many.
There were moments in the last few months where I became discouraged and was considering canceling the Angola trip. It just seemed that many details weren't coming together, and there was a lack of finances to cover conference costs and books. But the Lord through others, through my wife and children, through the encouragement of the Angolan pastors, kept me going in the right direction, to fulfill the call and help meet the needs of the pastors and leaders in Angola. They are doing the work, preaching the gospel, making disciples and planting churches. They just need some encouragement, some mentoring and some direction on how to be healthy pastors of healthy biblical churches.
Pray that God will help us to stay the course with the PSP Project.
Pray that God will provide more resources to continue with our support of Pastor Quimputo and for the other PSP needs (like books and Bibles).
Pray for wisdom and discernment as we plan and prepare for continued ministry and mentoring to young pastors in Angola and other Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa, even in Brazil.
The needs are many all around us. The laborers are few. Thanks for standing with us.
